L'Esprit at 60 Homewood Avenue is a five story lowrise on a quiet tree lined street just south of Wellesley and Jarvis St. Politically, it is located in Ward 27 (municipal), Toronto Centre-Rosedale (provincial) and Toronto Centre (federal). Surrounded by interior courtyard gardens, L'Esprit Condominium consists of studio suites, one bedroom plus terrace/patio, one bedroom plus solarium and two bedroom townhomes. Most of the suites have a balcony.

On part of the present location of 60 Homewood Avenue stood a house which had been designated an historic site. It was relocated to the corner of Maitland Place and Homewood Avenue, and construction began on the rest of the complex. In 1990, the development, as constructed, consists of a 21-storey high-rise (15 Maitland Place) with 240 units; and L-shaped 5-storey low rise (60 Homewood Avenue) with 166 units, and additions to the historic house providing a total of 3 units in the corner building. In the early years of the complex, many owners purchased units as rental income properties but, over the life of the complex, more and more units became owner-occupied. By the time the complex was 20 years old, the vast majority of units were owner-occupied.

L'Esprit Condominium at 60 Homewood Avenue underwent a full renovation that was completed May 2006. The upgrades were created by Fort Architects Inc. and Wiklem Design Inc. and included, new carpets, wall and floor coverings in hallways and lobbies, improved lighting in all common areas, fresh suite entrance doors, re-design both lobbies – including security desks, refurbishing all elevators and refreshing the party rooms and lower-level hallways.

The building features a 24 Hour Concierge, Indoor Pool, Whirlpool, Sauna, Exercise Room, Party Room, Billiards Room, Tennis Court and convenient access to TTC. The suites range in size from 500 sqft for the studio suite to 725 sqft for the one bedroom plus solarium. An on-site Property Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of L'Esprit Condominiums, including staff and contractor supervision, building and grounds maintenance, and providing ongoing advice to the Board of Directors.

The complex and the neighbourhood are close to the Sherbourne subway station on the Bloor-Danforth line and the Wellesley subway station on the Yonge-University-Spadina line. In addition two bus routes (75 Sherbourne and 94 Wellesley) and one streetcar line (506 College) are also close at hand. There are dedicated bike lanes on Wellesley and Sherbourne streets. Residents can easily access the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway.

The local Business Improvement Are (BIA) is very active association of commercial property owners and tenants within a defined area who work in partnership with the City to create a thriving, competitive, and safe business area that attracts shoppers, diners, tourists, and new businesses. By working collectively, local businesses can work for civic improvement, enhancing the quality of life in the local neighbourhood and the entire City.

The Church Wellesley Village is one of Canada's most vibrant communities and was formally recognized as a BIA in 2002. In 1826 Alexander Wood, a pioneering gay magistrate and merchant, bought the land on which our community now sits. Being a molly, as gay men were known then, the locals came to call the area Molly Wood's Bush. In 2005, the BIA erected a statue of Alexander Wood (with information plaques) at the NW corner of Church and Alexander streets.

The shops, restaurants, bars, and other businesses of the Village are known for their friendly, helpful, and entertaining atmosphere. Throughout the year the area is home to many exciting events including Pride Week.
